East West Economics Research Conclave 2022

The Department of Economics at EWU is organizing the "East West Economics Research Conclave 2022" on December 21-22, 2022. The program offers young economists and researchers a unique opportunity to present their research, get feedback, and learn from eminent scholars in the country. Professor Dr. M.M. Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor has kindly agreed to Inaugurate the Conclave, followed by a Panel Discussion on Drivers of Economic Development in Bangladesh by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser and Founder Vice Chancellor, East West University, and Former Governor, Bangladesh Bank, Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud, Former Member of the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh and Chairman, Economic Research Group (ERG), Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow, Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Dr. Sajjad Zohir, Executive Director, Economic Research Group (ERG) with Professor Dr. A. K. Enamul Haque, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, East West University as Moderator.

The Conclave is scheduled to be wrapped up by a Plenary Session on The Economic Value of Life by Professor Dr. S. Madheswaran, Centre for Economic Studies and Policy, Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore, India with Dr. Biva Arani Mallik, Assistant Professor and Chairperson, Department of Economics, East West University as Moderator. The Closing remarks will be delivered by Dr. Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, Pro-Vice Chancellor, East West University.

This two day Research Conclave is divided into 4 sessions of Environment and EconomyGender and HealthContemporary Issues: Education, Job Market, and COVID19 and Macroeconomics Issues: Growth, Development, and Migration. Dr. Atonu Rabbani, Professor, Mushtaque Chowdhury Chair in Health and Poverty, BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, Dr. Nazneen Ahmed, Country Economist, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Dr. Nazneen Ahmed, Country Economist, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Dr. Abul H.M.G. Azam, Professor-cum-Advisor, Department of Business Administration, East West University, Dr. Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, Chairman, Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID) and Executive Director, Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh (PRI) will be present and conduct the sessions as Chairs.
